The design of this product derives from National Palace Museum's collection, Immortal Blossoms in an Everlasting Spring, Lilac, Giuseppe Castiglione, Qing dynasty. Lang Shih-ning, whose original name was Giuseppe Castiglione, was a native of Milan, Italy. At 27 he journeyed to China as a missionary and was called to the Imperial Court to serve as a painter. He remained in the service of the Imperial Court through the reigns of three emperor. His painting style incorporated western techniques such as perspective and modeling into traditional Chinese painting. This blending resulted in beautifully rendered paintings that were extremely realistic. Immortal Blossoms in an Everlasting Spring one of the rare works which combines both Chinese and western painting techniques.
